2019 End of Year Review

This year has been an incredibly successful year at work in which I’ve had two promotions, but a very busy one in which I have sacrificed a lot of personal time to my job, something I’ll be working on in 2020. My personal goals and activities have been on the backburner this year but will be very much front and centre over the next year. I’ve also become an uncle for the first time this month which is amazing, and I’m looking forward to watching him grow up. Here are some of my favourite things I’ve watched, read, written and listened to over the last year.

Things I’ve Watched
Line of Duty – Before series 5 aired this year I binged watch the other 4, and it really is remarkable TV, especially series 3-4.
This Time with Alan Partridge – Alan was back on our screens again this year and back to his best. A new series on the way this year.
League of Gentleman – I can’t believe it took me so long to watch this show, it’s brilliantly written, a bit silly, and just a good laugh.
Fleabag – The show is just as good as everyone was saying.
Taskmaster – Another show I’ve been meaning to watch for a long time, and I binged all 10 series earlier in the year. Such an easy watch.

Things I’ve Read
Again, I really have not read enough this year. Must do better.
Fall Out – the follow up to All Out War by Tim Shipman was just as good as the original, and I hear there is a third on the way…
How to Stop Time – another brilliant story from Matt Haig that keeps you hooked from start to finish.

Things I’ve Listened To
I finally started listening to podcasts this year, to be honest, I can’t quite believe I’m so late to the party.
Around the NFL – Possibly the best NFL podcast out there, simple as.
Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster – Such an easy listen, two hosts who let the guests do the talking rather than steal the limelight.
Quickly Kevin; will he score? – Worth listening to for the Steve Bruce novel episodes alone.
Gossipmongers – I don’t think I’ve ever laughed as much as I have to this podcast – some of the stories are just side-splitting.
Monkey Tennis – Four huge Alan Partridge fans talking about Partridge.
